Central observer reviews demonetization impact in state
Cash situation to improve within the next 10-15 days
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: A Central Government observer on Wednesday reviewed the currency note situation in Arunachal Pradesh post demonetization of Rs.500 and Rs. 1000 notes and assured that the issue of non-availability of smaller denominations would be solved within 10-15 days.
Additional Secretary, Economic Affairs, Govt. of India, MM Kutty reviewed the situation in a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu and discussed on impact of demonetization in the state.
The situation will improve within the next 10-15 days as notes of all denominations will be made available, the Additional Secretary assured.
Kutty urged the State Government to spread awareness on demonetization, especially in remote areas of the state.
As people have now started to visit banks in large number, Kutty advised the state government to use the opportunity to open more banks and ATMs in the state, especially at sub-divisional level to bring more people under the bank coverage.
To spread awareness on demonetization, the Chief Minister informed that all Deputy Commissioners will be instructed to relay a 15-minute Radio talk in every local dialect for 3-4 days. Also, he called for an outreach programme to be organised by the respective Deputy Commissioners.
Informing on the current situation in the state aftermath of the demonetization, Pema said that there has been no law and order problems despite there were unprecedented rush in the banks and ATM premises.
Expressing concern that people from outside the state might use bank accounts of tribal people (as they are exempted from taxes) to deposit money in huge amounts, Pema urged the Income Tax Department to trace all such accounts that deviates from its normal account history and pattern.
To cover more number of people under banking services, Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin suggested that ASHA workers in remote villages can be deputed to work as banking correspondents by opening customer service point (CSP).
The Chief Secretary said that an interim arrangement can be made to allow cash flow for payment of daily labourers engaged in construction activities.
Ashish Kundra, Commissioner (Finance) opined that fair price shops, shopkeepers, gaon-burahs and Political Interpreters can also be encouraged to work as banking correspondents.
Ering raises visa issue in Parliament
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Member of Parliament Ninong Ering on Wednesday raised the issue of visa denial to Bamang Tago by China in Lok Sabha.
Arunachal State Badminton Association Secretary Tago was nominated manager of the Indian Badminton Team and he was scheduled to travel for Fuzhou for the Thaihot China Open Championship 2016.
Condemning the act of Visa denial to Tago, Ering demanded the Central Government to take up the issue with China and resolve it immediately so that no people from Arunachal Pradesh suffer from the same issue in future. This is unfair and an act of discrimination against the people of Arunachal Pradesh. The Government of India should take serious action against it so that Arunachal people do not suffer in future, Ering said.
Sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh have been unable participate in any sports event in China since 2011 due to visa problem.
This has denied Arunachalees the opportunity to attend any important international events in China.
IIE conducts Tribal Artisans Mela at Pasighat
Tribal Artisans empanelled under TRIFED
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, an organisation under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, GoI, in association with Tribal Co-Operative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED), under Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has organized a one-day Tribal Artisans Mela (TAM) in the Conference Hall of Siang Guest House, Pasighat in East Siang district on November 22.
Around 40 tribal artisans from handloom sectors took part in the programme to showcase their products and all the artisans have been empanelled under TRIFED for future sourcing of tribal products for marketing in national and international market.
The main objective of the TAM is to select the potential tribal craft products for marketing and to identify New Tribal Artisans and enlist the potential artisans under TRIFED for future sourcing of products for national and international market.

SCERT director concerned over dismal performance
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Itanagar Gania Leij expressed serious concern over dismal performance of the students in schools as revealed in National Achievement Survey (NAS)-2016 report.
Addressing the 7th State Co-ordination Committee (SCC) Meeting on School and Teacher Education in the Conference Hall of SCERT here on Wednesday, Leij stressed on the need to identify various problems and issues in both school and teachers' education in the state. He appealed to the SCC members to give serious thoughts to the problems and give suggestions for improvement of the situation.
The meeting was organized by the North Eastern Regional Institute of Education (NERIE)NCERT, Shillong in collaboration with the SCERT, Itanagar involving senior officers and officials of the Department of School Education to identify the State's educational needs related to school and teacher education and finalise proposals for recommendation to the NCERT.
Leij, who chaired the meeting, appreciated the efforts of NERIE for regularly conducting such SCC meeting at SCERT Itanagar and requested the NERIE faculty to arrange for approval of the proposals in the Programme Approval Committee (PAC) Meeting of the NCERT as per need for timely implementation.
A thorough discussion on various issues and problems of school and teacher education was held, wherein all the members of the SCC participated. The SCERT on the basis of a need assessment analysis, made a presentation of the proposals pertaining to training, material development and research. The suggested proposals in the context of Arunachal Pradesh would be discussed in the Institute Advisory Body (IOB) Meeting of NERIE in December'2016 and forwarded to the NCERT for final approval in the PAC.

CoSAAP urges employees to develop work culture
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Confederation of Service Association of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) Secretary General Gonya Riba appealed to the state government employees to improve work culture and discharge duty sincerely.
Addressing at a meeting in Namsai on November 21, the CoSAAP Secretary General said that the government employees are well paid and we should reciprocate by improving our work culture for speedy development of the state and nation as a whole.
He also highlighted on pending demands of state govt. employees, such as implementation of FR-56 pertaining to retirement age at 60 years, immediate implementation of 7th Central Pay Commission, withdrawal of NOC system in the matters of promotion and retirement.
CoSAAP's Women Wing President NPC Khrime highlighted various achievements of CoSAAP like up gradation of scale of pay of Group "D" staff from Rs. 4400-7440+1300 (GP) to Rs. 5200-20200+1800 (GP) and re-designation of Group "D" employees as Multi Tasking Staff (MTS),
Grant of Child Care Leave (CCL) as per 6th CPC for female employees, family planning incentives, travelling allowances rates as per 6th CPC and grant of house rent allowance etc.
CoSAAP's Assistant Secretary (Finance) GR Richo also spoke.
Around 100 government employees from various departments attended the meeting.
Later, the meeting formed the Namsai District CoSAAP with Dr. CM Thamoung, DPO (NVBDCD) as president and Chau Longzing Mounglang, UDC as general secretary.
Earlier, the CoSAAP team on its arrival in Namsai met Namsai Superintendent of Police CK Mein, who was physically assaulted by miscreants in Silatoo village on September 10 this year.
SP Mein and his police team were attacked by people of Silatoo village while raiding drug peddlers.
Coordination meeting of land management dept held
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: A coordination meeting of the land management department was held in presence of officers and officials of the directorate of land management (LM) including its director E. Nangkar, deputy director R.Karcho and District Land Revenue and Settlement officers at the Directorate of Land Management here on Wednesday.
Presiding over the meeting parliamentary secretary, land management, Gojen Gadi called upon all the officials of the department to work sincerely with dedication for streamlining the land acquisition/land allotment process within their respective district to enhance the revenue generation for the state.
During the meeting, it was decided that acquisition of land and land allotment process in the district headquarters such as ADC/EAC/CO administrative circle headquarters be taken up immediately for issue of notification as Govt land and to streamline the process for land allotment as per the laid down rules and norms of the Govt.
The meeting also emphasized that boundary demarcation of schools and survey of Govt. educational institutions occupied Govt land in the districts be carried out on priority.
The meeting also discussion on various problems related to the department. The Parliamentary Secretary (LM) assured the officers to look into grievances of the DLRSOs.
APWWS hails GoAP's decision
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: The GoAP's decision to release Rs. 6 Cr to the Deputy Commissioners of districts for establishment of drug de-addiction centers in various districts has been hailed by the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) as a positive step in the crusade against drugs and opium addiction in the state.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister had during the State Development Council meeting on Tuesday last, announced that the Planning Department will release Rs. 6 Cr to concern DCs for establishment of drug de-addiction centers in various districts.
'The APWWS has been persistently taking up the issue with the GoAP and with the recent announcement we hope that the move will give enough impetus to various women-based organizations and NGOs in their fight against drug and opium menace. We, however, strongly urged the GoAP to implement the same at the earliest', said APWWS Secretary General, Kani Nada.
'Though the state has many de-addiction camps, most of them are not functioning due to lack of funds', she informed adding that the APWWS had on various occasion observed that non-functioning of rehabilitation centers makes it difficult for the authorities to rehabilitate addicts.
'Many a times we receive complaints from the police department lamenting the absence of functional de-addiction centers in the state', she claimed adding that the authorities have to admit the addicts to other Assam-based centers which are often expensive.
While stressing the need for proper care and treatment for addicts, she said that the fight against drug and opium addiction will not be inclusive if the state's de-addiction camps and rehabilitation centers are not functioning properly.
PMC gears up campaign for 3rd round of Smart City Mission

PASIGHAT, Nov 23: After failing to make noticeable splash in Smart City Mission(SCM) race in 1st and 2nd phase, the Pasighat Municipal Council(PMC) is now gearing up for 3rd round of competition.
PMC led by Chief Councilor, Kaling Doruk called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu and various ministers seeking their support in the preparation. Appealing the Chief Minister for consideration of Smart City proposal of Pasighat Town, the PMC sought the state government to release the pending funds of Rs. 2 Crore sanctioned by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India for preparation of smart city proposal and to conduct other citizens' consultation programmes. Fund crisis has become major impediment in the preparation, he said adding that there is urgent need to release the funds at this crucial hour. PMC have already participated both first and second round of the smart city proposal.
Doruk further appealed to the Chief Minister for appointment of fresh consultant for Smart City Mission, claiming that previous DDF Infra, New Delhi has failed to deliver on its commitment and expertise which have hampered the chances of Pasighat making into the race. The council also sought for more funds to Pasighat Town's avenue plantation, construction of drainage, parking plot, other civic amenities etc. to which CM has responded and has directed the Chief Secretary to call a meeting of PMC along with TP & ULBs.
The PMC team also called on Minister, UD & TP, Nabam Ribia, Minister, Textile & Handicraft, Tamiyo Taga, Minister RD & Panchayati Raj, Tanga Byaling, Secretary, UD, TP and ULB, Director, TP & ULB and sought their active support in the preparation for Smart city race.
It is said that an amount of Rs. 2 crore was released from MoUD, Govt. of India for Smart City campaign, but the sanctioned amount was never sent to Pasighat from concern department.
Student dies in road accident

NAMSAI Nov 23: Chow Thammika Manchey, a first year student of Mahabodhi Lord Buddha College, died in road accident near Tengapani reserve forest area on Tuesday.
The accident occurred, when the Yamaha FZ bike (AR 01 D 7853), in which the deceased was riding a pillion, was hit by a tipper (NL 04 D 5541) around 4 pm on the highway.
Thammika (22 years) was son of Chow Ongsan Manchey of Momong village.
His friend Chow Soma Namchoom, who was driving the motorcycle, also received severe injuries.
The tipper and the driver have been taken into police custody.
An FIR was lodged at Namsai Police Station immediately and Police has registered the case (No.148/16) Under Section 279/337/304A, informed OC Namsai PS Inspector Lod Tari.
CM’s Trophy renamed as Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: The annual football and volleyball (men and women) tournaments for Chief Minister's Trophy will be conducted in memory of martyr Hangpan Dada from now onwards.
The decision to rename the Chief Minister's Trophy as Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy was taken by Chief Minister Pema Khandu in the SDC meeting held here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Sports Department has officially adopted the decision which was informed by the department in a meeting here with the Chief Minister.
Havildar Dada, who died in Kupwara on May 27 last after killing three terrorists, was awarded Ashok Chakra on the eve of Independence Day this year by President Pranab Mukherjee.
Hav. Dada, 36, hailed from Boduria village in Arunachal Pradesh and was posted in the high mountain in north Kashmir since late last year.
The chief minister's trophy tournament was formally launched at Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy at Chimpu in November 2013 by then Chief Minister NabamTuki.
The Chief Minister appreciated the department for prompt action on his announcement and said this would be a tribute by the people of Arunachal to the brave son of the state.
"Late Hangpan Dada made the supreme sacrifice fighting for his country. He needs to be immortalized," he said.
The chief minister also reviewed activities of Sports and Youth Affairs Departments.
To a request of the department for adequate funds for completing ongoing sports infrastructures and sporting activities, the Chief Minister assured that funds won't be a constraint for productive and essential projects.
The meeting was attended by Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rajesh Tacho, Parliamentary Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, Nyamar Karbak, Chairman, Sports Authority of Arunachal, Gora Makik, Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, Dani Salu, Directors of Sports and Youth Affairs and other departmental officials.
No untoward incident in recently held Hayuliang bye-poll, over Rs 32 Lakhs seized
HAYULIANG, Nov 23: Over Rs.32 Lakh were seized by Police, Flying Squads and Static Surveillance teams during the period of enforcement of election code of conduct in Anjaw.
Besides intermittent seizures of IMFL, the Flying Squad Teams of RO Hayuliang headed by Tasso Richo seized Rs 3 Lakh and the Static Surveillance Team under Rokpo Tamin seized Rs 9 Lakhs during their routine duty.
The police teams headed by SI Hage Loder, SI Wangpol Wangsa and SI Magar Takar seized Rs 20.76 lakhs from various Naka points and during routine patrolling.
Claiming that the entire processes for bye-election to Hayuliang Assembly Constituency ended without a single untoward incident, DEO/RO Anjaw Mamata Riba in a press statement said: "This achievement, however, wouldn't have been possible without the consistent services of men in uniform. Their role in providing security to Magistrates on duty, to foot marching along with Polling Teams to the steep hills of Anjaw, to checking inflow of liquor/illegal money and aiding District Administration of Anjaw in strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct were exemplary".

Tuki greets Narayansamy,Dasanglu on their victory
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: Former chief minister Nabam Tuki yesterday congratulated Puducherry Chief Minister Narayansamy and Dasanglu Pul for winning by-polls from their respective assembly constituency.
Narayanasamy (Congress) won Nellithope Assembly seat by defeating his AIADMK rival Om Sakthi Sekhar by a margin of 11,144 votes. CM secured 18,709 votes against Sekhar's 7,565 votes, out of total of 26,564 votes polled.
Puducherry, a union territory, would witness multi-faceted development under the leadership of Narayansamy, who had taken over its reins on June 6 last with Lt Governor Kiran Bedi administering the oath of office and secrecy to him and his five ministers, Tuki said in a statement, adding that his victory was a foregone conclusion.
Arunachal Pradesh Congress immensely benefitted from the service of veteran leader Narayansamy, who as AICC in-charge of this state always kept a tab of political development, Tuki said.
Meanwhile, congratulating Dasanglu Pul (BJP) on her victory, Tuki wished that she would walk the same path of her late husband and former chief minister Kalikho Pul to complete his unfinished task. "I'm confident she is capable of doing that," Tuki added.
Association appeals GoAP to disallow implementation of MoU
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: The Seijosa Youth Association (SYA) has in a letter to the Chief Minister on Wednesday appealed to him to not to allow implementation of the MoU reportedly signed between the state government and Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd. Haridwar on July 7 last, according to which around 21,000 bighas were donated to Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd. for developing a Botanical garden at Seijosa.
It claimed that the land which has been donated to the Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd. had been declared as a reserve forest area since 1966 and a buffer zone since 1996 by the GoI and alleged that the decision has been taken without the consent of the villagers.
'People of Seijosa and Dissing-Passo have already been facing the brunt of the GoI's decision to make the said area as buffer zone and with the signing of the MoU, the problems of the locals have simply doubled', the Association rued.
The untold story of NEFA days

During Chinese aggression in 1962, I had to discontinue my studies and remained at home with my parents till situation was normal. In 1964, I passed my matriculation examination and took admission in J.N. College, Pasighat as a First Batch student. In college, I took initiative to associate with Students' Union.
All NEFA Students' Union was the oldest organisation in North East Frontier Agency (NEFA). In 1966, our seniors under Union's Ex-President, Bakin Pertin started the process of election to form new body of All NEFA Students' Union. Election was conducted and under election panel, the representatives of students of five districts cast their votes. In that election, I was elected as Asstt. General Secretary of All NEFA Students' Union.
After formation of the Union, new members including senior students held meetings and discussed some core issues of the students in NEFA. In addition, the union also discussed about the status of political population of NEFA. After discussion Students' Union felt that problems of the state were gigantic and cannot fulfill the expectations of the people unless government is formed under the Principle of Democracy. With this view, Students' Union organised, a public meeting at Pasighat where large number of prominent public leaders from five districts of NEFA attended the meeting. In the meeting, all the public leaders felt that their cultures and identity should be protected through the ideology of oneness and democracy.
The leaders and public of NEFA considered All NEFA Students' Union as a frontal organisation in achieving their goals to make the state a better one.
Trusting the dynamic leadership of the Students' Union, once the public of Daporijo invited All NEFA Students' Union on 12/10/1967 to settle an unfortunate incident that had occurred at Daporijo between 139 Construction Coy and a public contractor of Liromoba area. On receipt of invitation, a "Peace Mission" consisting of nine student members from the Union under the leadership of Nyodek Yonggam went to Daporijo, studied the situation and solved it peacefully.
The persons who took part with members of the Peace Mission to settle the incident were: Taniak Doni - Bazar Secretary, Tapong Gyama -Asstt. Bazar Secretary, Sapken Nagi - Spl. Grade P.I., Basar Gamlin - P.L, Yamnya Angu - P.I., Bebon Bogo -Gam, Taluk Rano - P.L, and Tamen Potom - Gam.
Parties involved in the incident were: Tako Potom, R.K. Govil - Capt. 139 Construction Coy and Tamo Karba.
The members of All NEFA Students' Union Peace Mission were: Nyodek Yonggam, Rinching Norbu, Chow Inkalit Mannou, Chow Tan Manpoong, Senmo Riba, Tadak Gara, Agul Borang, Talo Kadu and B. Pangin.

Union's next step was submission of a Memorandum to the Prime Minister of India at Pasighat on 26/12/1967 to redress the following points.
Immediate shifting of NEFA Secretariat, NEFA - Assam, NEFA-Nagaland Boundary Demarcation, Inter District Communication, to maintain strict Inner Line Permit system to protect people of NEFA from exploitation, more representatives in Parliament - Two for Lok Sabha and one for Rajya Sabha, to ease the language problem of students in NEFA, English and Hindi should be made medium of instruction in the schools, Implementation of Erring Committee to form Tribal Committee so that people of NEFA get political consciousness in their developmental affairs, appointment of IAS Officer in NEFA, better medical facilities, Enhancement of stipends to ease financial constrains of NEFA students and better facilities for J.N. College. Pasighat.
After independence, NEFA was directly placed under the discretionary powers of the Governor of Assam from 1947 to 1970. But the Governor in council did not exercise his power to respect the democratic view of the natives of NEFA.
It was under the Reorganisation Act 1971, a new political status was given to NEFA. NEFA was again rechristened as Arunachal Pradesh. Thereafter All NEFA Students' Union was also known as All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU).
After my graduation in 1968, I retired from the Union and moved back to my home town "Chongkham". It was a great privilege for me to be a part of All NEFA Students' Union at that time and render services for the well-being of our people.
I am old now, but when I look back in my formative years, I recall the vital role that All NEFA Students' Union had played in imparting the value of oneness and identity to the people of NEFA. ( The writer is a retired Principal, Chongkham)

Celebrities like former Union Ministers Rajesh Pilot & Dinesh Goswami (the latter hailing from the state of Assam) along with Mark Mascarenhas, Michelle Vadra and many others-well known and not so well known people making a long list of lots with a common destiny. From our own Arunachal Pradesh too, among others, Kayang Pertin & Dr. Rabi Kipa, as per my memory goes, having joined that party in not very distant past. All of them died tragically by motor accident in highway roads. These good people, but-unlucky auto-accident victims would probably be alive today, if they had only bothered to wear their seat belts inside their cars.
It is an irony that both (last two, AP victims) had been in very close association with me. The late Kayang Pertin, who rose to DFO (Divisional Forest Officer) very early in his service career in the E&F Deptt, was a classmate of mine, as we studied together in PUC 2nd year as science students at JN College Pasighat in mid seventies. He used to be as close a friend even in later period till his untimely demise in an unfortunate road accident by his own new car in Sonitpur District of Assam several years back. Emotions still flood me as I recollect the moments spent with him including one I had the honour of attending his marriage party at Naharlagun, travelling from far away Longding where I was serving as an MO then, after he sent me a strongly worded W.T message not to miss his marriage ceremony at any cost.
Dr. Rabi Kipa, a promising young & energetic doctor had the occasion with me while being posted in Lohit district together, I , as DMO at Tezu, while, late Dr. Rabi Kipa as MO at Namsai. I can claim, he was a true professional as a doctor and Govt Servant. He had a special fascination to work in the field of rehabilitation of drug addicts among youths and villagers of Lohit & Changlang district. We, both had struck a very good cord together while working in drug de-addiction operation in both eastern districts of A.P. - Changlang & Lohit. In recognition of his crusading good works in that field, Govt. of A.P. had awarded a gold medal to Dr. Rabi and so also one to me in the year 2003. Thereby, Arunachal, had lost two good souls by dint of high speeding motor car accidents.
Studies have shown that seat belts reduce 'in vehicle fatalities" by over 70 per cent. Airbags are not an answer and can even be a liability if seat belts are not buckled on. They are called SRS (supplementary restraint systems) with the seat belts as the primary ones. Without seat belts, the airbags exploding into a driver's face at 200 Kmph can cause complete loss of control. The tragic deaths of these celebrities & officers were also because they were in high-velocity vehicles that have tendency to roll over at very high speeds. All tall vehicles like Gypsies, Scorpios & other multi-utility vehicles (MUVs) or sports utility vehicles (SUVs) have high clearances for driving over rough terrain. But this also makes them top heavy and much more vulnerable to flipping over. MUVs and SUVs are very safe at moderate speeds, but not at high speeds. And the danger is increased when there is a load of passengers &/or heavy luggage on the high seats to further raise the centre of gravity. A load on the roof rack raises the centre of gravity even further making the vehicle still more unstable. With so many Sumos, Mahindra Scorpios and other MUVs packed with passengers and baggage racing on the highways and hill roads, it is no surprise that many flip over. Tyres can also be an additional problem.
Most drivers are unaware that tubeless tyres have much less danger of bursting and that radial tyres are designed to look slightly under-in-flated. Tyre bursts are usually tube failures while tubeless tyres deflate very slowly. The rapid widening and improvement of India's highways makes it easy to drive very fast so there can no longer be any tolerance for the casual ways of the past. Cattle, pedestrians, carts, dogs, children and unfit vehicles on highways can too easily cause violent accident avoidance turns. Fatigue and alcohol are also contributing factors as also age, eyesight and physical fitness.
Its noteworthy that some 90,000 people are killed on the highways every year. This is more than all the deaths in all the wars since Independence but no one seems to care. The RTOs and State police departments must understand that India's vehicles and highways have changed. The RTOs will have to start by stopping the indiscriminate issuing of driving licenses. Drivers will have to learn that driving licenses are not an automatic right but an important privilege that has to be earned after proper training and testing. As the highways improve, the highway patrols need to actively police the traffic and enforce the existing laws about vehicle fitness and overloading. Seat belts laws need to be rigorously enforced and highway speed limits need to be defined and rigorously enforced. India's trucks and MUCs are unsafe at speeds over 90 kmph, so this speed limit should be enacted and enforced upon. Japan, Thailand and Malaysia have limits of 110 kmph but their highways are much less crowded, smoother and drivers more disciplined. Make a habit of wearing seat belts inside the cars. NUFC enter final
ITANAGAR, NOV 23: NUFC entered into the final of the Veteran Cup Football Tournament defeating AUFC 5-4 via penalty shoot out in the first semifinal at RG Stadium, Naharlagun on Wednesday.
The match went to penalty shoot out after a 1-1 draw followed by a scoreless 20 minutes extra time.
AUFC took an early lead through goal from Taja Bonung in 4 minutes which was equalized by Toko Togur of NUFC in 27th minute.
SP XI win Inter Departmental T-20 Cricket Tournament
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: SP XI won the first Inter Departmental T-20 Cricket Tournament of Longding district with theme "Say No to Plastic" defeating IRBN XI by 51 runs in the finals at General Ground, Longding on November 22.
SP XI, who elected to bat first after winning the toss, scored 175 runs in 20 overs losing 7 wickets. Captain R. Lungphi and Chow Longke contributed valuable 34 and 39 runs respectively.
Chasing the target, IRBn XI came in with a good partnership and good run rate of 8.8 runs per over early in the inning. However, after strategic time out Skipper R.Lungphi's 5 wickets restricted IRBn XI's innings for 124 runs and snatched the match from them.
Skipper R Lungphi was adjudged Man of the Match while Karan Chetri was adjudged "Man of the Series".
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta, who kicked off the final match with a huge six, and Longding SP gave encouraging speech and urged all to take up sports to stay physically fit and mentally sound.
Before the start of the match Longding DSO (sports) spoke on the importance of sports and cleanliness in our daily life.
The DSO led the participants in cleaning of Longding general ground. He also installed dustbins at the stadium.
Tackle those forcefully giving old notes: ACCI
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Pointing out that withdrawl of Rs 500 & Rs 1,000 currency notes from circulation has caused serious short term disruption, especially impacting small traders, wholesalers and daily wage earners, vegetable vendors and kirana stores, Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries general secretary Tarh Nahung today expressed deep concern that some customers are forcefully giving old Rs 500 & Rs 1,000 notes. But in case of refusal, they are arguing with the traders and even going to the extent of threatening to physically assault them.
As this has been causing grave situation, the authority concerned are requested to immediately take bold steps to tackle the situation and issue media statement toeing the adage "A stitch in time saves nine". This would provide solace to the business community, Nachung added.
Committee to protect wildlife
YINGKIONG, Nov 23: The newly formed Central Lamkang Executive Committee headed by Yahung Tekseng, who also is the member of State Board for Wildlife, will protect and prevent illegal hunting of wildlife and extraction of medicinal plants from within the jurisdiction of Tuting-Yingkiong constituency. Offenders would be imposed heavy fines.

RGU departmental workshop begins
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Department of Commerce, Rajiv Gandhi University is conducting a seven days workshop on Tally accounting from November 23.
Vice-chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University Prof. T. Mibang, who inaugurated workshop, said that Tally accounting was very important in today's industrialized economy. He said that theoretical learning in classrooms should be supplemented by practical learning through such workshop to make the students equipped for employment. He urged the students to attend the workshop wholeheartedly and complete the course successfully.
Prof. R.C. Parida, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management also encouraged the students to take advantage of the workshop.
Dr. Devi Baruah, the coordinator of the workshop introduced the workshop to the gathering.
Prof. T. Kaye, Head, Department of Commerce also spoke on the occasion.
Around 50 students have enrolled for the workshop.
Dr. Sah appointed honaray Director General of IBC
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: Former Head of Department of English of Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar, Dr. Bindeshwar Prasad Sah has been appointed as Honarary Director General of International Biographical Center (IBC) of Cambridge, England.
Dr. Sah had earlier worked as a PGT from 1972 to 1981 and later, served as the Head of Department of English at Dera Natung Government College (then Government College Itanagar) from 1981 to 2006.

ITANAGAR, Nov 23: The Department of History, Don Bosco College Itanagar has organized its annual seminar on the topic, "Gandhian Era" on Wednesday.
Attending as resource person Assistant Professor of Dera Natung Government College Itanagar, Jimmy Camdir Tok stressed on the importance on Gandhi's charismatic ability to move masses terming it as challenging task.
The students presented eight papers on Gandhi's life, principles, freedom struggle movement and critique on some aspects of Gandhi and also his post independence influence.
Awareness Campaign on demonetization held
TEZU, Nov 23: The Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Govt. of India, Ministry of I & B, Tezu unit on Wednesday organized awareness programme on Demonetization at Tezu area of Lohit district. Mihir Kumar Jha, FPO, Tezu explained the gathering about the advantages of demonetization. He said that Government has changed only Rs.500/- and Rs.1000/- currency with new currency notes of Rs.500 and Rs. 2000. He also informed that people should deposit as well as exchange their old Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency till 30th December'2016 and after that people will have to deposit their old Rs.500/- and Rs.1000/- currency at specific Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Office with a declaration letter till 31st March'2017.
JWCRTUAP suspends proposed dharna
ITANAGAR, Nov 23: A delegation of Joint Working Committee of Registered Trade Unions of Arunachal Pradesh (JWCRTUAP) led by its chairman Changma Tajo met the Deputy Secretary and Under Secretary to Governor of Arunachal Pradesh on November 22 to discuss on recent ultimatum served to the Chief Secretary over alleged termination of one B. Chakrovarty, a casual labour under Raj Bhavan.
JWCRTUAP has temporarily suspended its proposed dharna after Deputy Secretary and Under Secretary sought time for completion of enquiry on the matter.

BOMDILA, Nov 23: The District Control cell, West Kameng district, has conducted 4 days school programme on Information Education and Communication (IEC) and awareness on Tobacco addiction and its effects at various schools including Govt. Higher Secondary School, Kalaktang, Govt. Secondary School, Shergoan, Roop Land School, Rupa and Govt. Higher Secondary School, Singchung from November 15 to 21 last.
Resource persons including Dr Hage Tam epidemiologist NCD, Tamchi Para, District consultant and Tage Yakang delivered lectures on ill effect of tobacco consumption. Make judicious use of central fund
In a landmark decision which can vastly improve the road connectivity in Arunachal
the Union Ministry of Rural Development has given clearance to 119 roads and 36 long
span bridges under PMGSY with an estimated cost of Rs. 1488.56 crores. As per the
report, the remaining proposal for 43 roads and 17 long-
Rijiju is believed to have strongly pitched for these projects as most of them will ensure connectivity in the border areas. Now that the project has been sanctioned, the government of Arunachal should make sure that it is properly implemented at ground level. Most of the earlier road projects under PMGSY have miserably failed. Infact government of Arunachal would not submit the utilization certificates for many of the projects. Due to this centre has been refusing to release fund for the remaining stages. Therefore government will have to be extra careful this time. Centre will be closely monitoring these projects. If they find anything wrong, in future they might be reluctant to release further fund under PMGSY. There should be proper transference in the tendering process. Best and the qualified contractors should be given work, so that quality work is done. Fund starved state like Arunachal cannot afford to misuse the central fund. The days of free fund flowing from centre are over. The state government will have to learn financial prudence and make judicious use of each single penny.

Dear Editor,
I being citizen of the country whole heartedly support the bold initiative undertaken by Govt of India under able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra for demonetizing notes of denomination of Rs 500&1000. Demonitisation has its own advantages.
1) It destroys the terror funding activities against our country.
2) It helps in cracking down black money.
3) It destroys the printing of duplicate notes.
4) It helps in cracking corruption.
Many of people especially political parties who has accumulated huge amount of money through hawala transactions will try their level best to put pressure on govt for roll back of this historic bold decision. Our jawans at the border guards our country 24x7 and 365days. Is it not our duty to wait for 50 days so that situation improves whereas the govt is putting all out efforts for convenience of its citizens? It is a fact that most of the Indians are in favour of these historic decisions which is going to bear fruitful results in long run for the country.
In appreciating and honouring the support of citizens, I personally appeals PMO not to roll back the decisions under any circumstances. Modi is an able leader, true statesman, excellent orator, down to earth personality, man of action & masses and there is not even a single grain of doubt in his leadership of leading the country as a whole.
Once again I on behalf of my fellow countrymen do pray that whatever may be circumstances PMO should not roll back the demonitisation effort. We are happy enough to have a leader with great personality to lead the country.
